What is OMFICA?

OMFICA is a non-profit organization with the mission to develop competitive market for web search. OMFICA has created data repository of World Wide Web content (Open Web Repository) and set-up its governance based on democratic principles. Open Web Repository is updated by distributed crawlers, which use free resources of volunteers' PCs (Open Web Crawling).

Internet is a huge source of information generated by people who use it. However this data is chaotically spread or decentralized in the wide net of the web. In order the data to be available for the Internet users, that is people who actually are the developers of this information, it should be collected and centralized in a storage; in other words to have the “Collective mind” of Internet users’ “thoughts”. Centralization itself carries a threat of monopolization of the information, and when it is monopolized, it stops to be openly available for the public. In this case when the Internet user performs a simple search in the Internet for a certain topic, s/he receives not the information s/he wants, but the information that the monopolized storage owners wants that s/he has out of the hundred even thousand of web pages referring to the interested topic. Thus simple Internet users who are forming the “Collective mind” do not own the information they have. So very well known terms “corruption” of the Internet and “anti-democracy” and “violence of human (Internet users) rights” logically can be applied in this case as well.

A very good remedy for this could be a centralization of the data with its democratic availability, that is the data centralized but not monopolized and it becomes available and controllable for all the Internet users interested in it. This idea carries our organization - OMFICA (Open Market for Internet Content Accessibility). OMFICA develops new advanced technologies and standards for Internet content indexing and search. OMFICA also creates a huge Open Web Repository which will be owned and controlled by simple Internet users. OMFICA provides democratic approach of Internet content owning and accessibility with its online democratic election system. Every Internet user can become OMFICA member, and then all these OMFICA members will elect their committees and democratic Board of Directors who all will serve under OMFICA’s mission - “To create open market for Internet content Indexing and Search”.
